OAU@60: Varsity honours Eddy Olafeso, 59 other former students with prestigious award

Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, on Saturday, (yesterday) marked its 60th anniversary, bestowing a prestigious award on Chief Eddy Olafeso (Ph.D.), the former Vice National Chairman (South West) of the Peoples Democratic Party, as well as 59 other old students of the institution including Mr. Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser, Media, and Publicity to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Starnews Nigeria reports that the presentation of the award and the 60th anniversary of the institution was held at Marriot Hotel Main Hall, Ikeja, Lagos State.

Dr. Eddy Eniola Olafeso, who holds the chieftaincy title of Oloroogun (Warlord) was elected Student Union President of the great citadel of learning in 1981/1982 and the first President of Ife Alumni in the United States of America (USA) in 2000/ 2002.

Chief Olafeso, a first class graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University was born in Okitipupa in Ondo State.

For his higher education, he attended Obafemi Awolowo University in 1985 where he obtained a BA. First Class honours in English.

Dr. Olafeso pursued his post-graduate studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, obtaining an MSc in International Relations, in 1985, before he traveled to Hawaii, USA to acquire a Ph.D. in International Relations.

Dr. Olafeso served in Ondo State Executive Council as Honourable Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Mobilization from 2007 to 2009.

He held various positions in the PDP including the State Secretary of the party in Ondo State in the year 2007 and Chairman, PDP State Contact Committee.

Dr. Olafeso was elected Vice National Chairman (South West) of the PDP during the convention held in December 2017.

He has huge experience in the courier industry, working in managerial capacities in Red Star Express and DHL International for over a decade.

He is a member of the following professional bodies, the Institute of Management since 1990 and the Marketing Association of Nigeria since 1991.
