Slain OAU master’s student: Don’t sweep the case under carpet, Erelu Oodua warns police

The international custodian of African culture, the Erelu Oodua of Aye Kingdom, Tinuade Mabel Onaneye, on Sunday warned men of the Nigerian Police and politicians not to cover up the ongoing investigation of the death of Mr. Timothy Adegoke, a Master of Business Administration student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Starnews Nigeria reports that Timothy Adegoke was found dead after lodging at Hilton Hotels & Resorts in Ile-Ife, Osun State.

Adegoke, a chartered accountant, had lodged in the hotel on November 5 ahead of his examination at OAU.

He had come in from his base in Abuja, flying first to Akure, Ondo State from where he traveled by road to Ile-Ife.

However, when his wife could not establish contact with him after repeated phone calls, she raised the alarm.

His corpse was found a few days after where it was dumped on the outskirts of the ancient town.

The Police headquarters, Abuja, had announced the takeover of the case some weeks ago after the deceased family members accused the police of treating the owner of the hotel as a VIP.

Reacting to the unfortunate incident from her base in Texas, United States, the Erelu who is also the title holder of Irawo oni Oodua of Yoruba land, said
it is worrisome and sad that a bright young Nigerian like Timothy Adegoke could be cut down in his prime for motives best known to his killers.

While demanding a thorough investigation by the Police, the outspoken Erelu said the case must not be swept under the carpet given the way and manner the case is being handled by the police.

“While I sympathise with the family of late Timothy Adegoke, I am positive that justice would be served in this case to send a strong signal to the rich in society and influential Nigerians who believe they’re above the law.“

“The Nigerian Police must ensure the perpetrators are brought to book which is the only consolation the deceased family needed from the government”.
I pray God to give late Timothy’s family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss”, Erelu added.
