Sachet water rises to N30 in Nassarawa as Keffi LGA Chairman mandates reversal with full force

The Executive Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, North-Central Nigeria, Mohammed Shehu-Baba has resorted to the use of force to ensure compliance with the council’s order reversing the price of sachet water popularly as “pure water” from N30 to N10.

Shehu-Baba who is barely 3-weeks in office was seen monitoring the distribution of packaged sachet water by manufacturers in the area at the fixed price of N120 per bag.

Ait.live gathered that at least three packaged sachet water loaded vehicles have been barred from selling in the area for floating the official order.

The Council Boss has insisted that the manufacturers must comply fully with the order or relocate their businesses to another area.

The manufacturers had hiked the price of the commodity due to increase in Value Added Tax, VAT and cost of production among others. This, the Council has rejected.
