The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency of Ondo State may suffer a great loss by the weekend as the former Chairman of Federal Character Commission (FCC), Barr. Abayomi Sheba has concluded plans to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with no fewer than 2,000 members of the ruling APC loyal to him, Starnews Nigeria can report.
Sheba, a member of the Federal House of Representatives for Irele/Okitipupa Federal Constituency between 1999-2003 was said to have been consulting Stakeholders in the PDP and holding meetings with his numerous followers in the Federal Constituency for the past few months ahead of his defection plan slated for Saturday this week.
The source who hinted at Starnews Nigeria said, “Sheba plans to go back to the National Assembly and he sees the PDP as the only formidable platform where he could return to the House of Representatives as a ranking Honourable Member ahead of the 2023 general election.”
“He is joining the PDP with no fewer than 2,000 members of the ruling APC,” the source added
A chieftain of the opposition PDP in Ondo State who further confirmed Sheba’s planned defection to the PDP said: “ Abayomi Sheba is a pioneer member of our party. He is welcome back home. We hope to receive him back on Saturday and we are very happy with his decision to reunite with us after his long holiday in the APC.”
