S’W PDP Crisis: NWC postpones Congress, relocates venue from Oyo

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has postponed the Zonal Congress of the party in the Southwest which was earlier slated for March 6, 2021, by the National Working Committee(NWC) of the party.

Also, in its quest to conduct a free and fair Zonal Congress, the PDP has relocated the venue of the Congress from Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital.

A member of the National Working Committee who hinted at Starnews Nigeria on Sunday said a new date and a new venue would be officially communicated by the NWC to all the necessary stakeholders in due course.

In the same vein, the tenures of Zonal Caretaker Committees for South-West, North-Central and North-West have been extended for another period of 30 days.

The fresh extension takes effect from March 10, 2021, being the date of the expiration of the current tenure.

Also, the party has slated March 1, 2021, as the last day for submission of already purchased and completed forms for Zonal Congresses in all the zones.

Consequently, screening of aspirants for North-East, South-East and South-South Zonal congresses is now scheduled for Tuesday, March 02, 2021, at the Zonal Headquarters.

In a statement signed by its National Organising Secretary, Col Austin Akobundu (retd), the party has also postponed the commencement of sale of forms for the Anambra governorship primary election.

Starnews Nigeria reports that the sale of forms which was earlier scheduled for Monday, March 1, 2021, has been shifted to Wednesday, March 10, 2021.
