The Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) governorship campaign in Etikan Ward of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State has received a boost following a recent defection of over 30 leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the ZLP on Wednesday, pledging unflinching supports for Hon Agboola Ajayi, the candidate of the Party.
Leading the 30 PDP members into the ZLP in Etikan Ward of Ilaje Local Government Area in Ondo State, Hon Ilesanmi Oronla, a former Councillor of the Ward, said the PDP was not progressive, rudderless and lacks direction and as such, they decided to join the ZLP to help the party win the governorship election on Saturday.
The defectors include:
HON. ORONLA PATRIC ILESANMI, Mr AJIFOWOWE OMOTAYO, MRS ORONLA KIKELOMO, MR AJIFOWOWE AYANFE, PA AYEOLOWO, MR MAJOFODUN OMONO, MR FAYEMI OKE, MRS AJIFOWOWE YEMISI, AYESE OJUETIMI, MISS AJIFOWOWE IDOWU.
Others were:
MISS EGBAYELO BOSEDE, MISS ORONLA SEYIFUNMI, MISS ORONLA IMISI, MISS ORONLA BUKY, MRS OMOSEBI KEMI, IKUEMONISAN SMART, AKINJOLE OMOLAFE, AJIFOWOWE TAIWO, AJIMISAN YELE, LEMADORO KELE, MR AJIFOWOWE OYEKAN, AJIFOWOWE BUKY, MRS AJIFOWOWE NGOZI AND AJIFOWOWE ALABA.
Starnews Nigeria reports that the defectors were received to the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) by the foremost leader of the ward and a former Governorship Aspirant who is a Chieftain of the ZLP, Hon Banji Okunomo.
While reposing confidence in the leadership of Okunomo, they accused Chief Godday Erewa of trying to lord himself on them despite his political inexperience according to them.
“Many of us have left the PDP because the party is rudderless, lacks direction and not progressive. We have decided to join the ZLP to help the party win the governorship election on Saturday. Godday Erewa is inexperienced politically and despite being a new member of our party, he is also trying to Lord himself on us.”
“With this, we made up our minds to join our leader, Banji Okunomo in the ZLP to work for the election of Agboola Ajayi who is also from our Federal Constituency. U can see that we all passed a vote of confidence on Okunomo today”, they said
