PDP, APC nose-diving as ZLP receives more defectors ahead of Ondo Poll

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and a former member of Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon Folagbede Gbemibade, popularly known as FLAGON from IleOluji/Okeigbo state constituency has joined the array of defectors from the PDP to the Zenith Labour Party ahead of Ondo State governorship election on October 10, 2020.

In a similar development, Mr Daisi Netufo, a grassroot politician and a chieftain of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) from Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State has also dumped the ruling APC for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

They both joined the ZLP in a political rally on Wednesday, in Akure, Ondo State Capital.

It seems the ruling APC and the opposition PDP are nose-diving as the Zenith Labour Party in the State is waxing stronger especially with the continuous receipt of defectors from the PDP and the APC by the ZLP on daily basis.

Starnews Nigeria reports that just today alone, Wednesday, September 23, 2020, two chieftains of the ruling APC who were also former council chairmen of Irele Local Government, Hon. Nicholas Akinbiola and Hon Gbadebo Odimayo, had dumped the ruling APC for the ZLP.

Along the same line, a chieftain of the ruling APC and a serving Commissioner on the board of Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), Chief Ilawole Bisi, from Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, has also joined the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Starnews Nigeria had reported on September 21, 2020, that tension has gripped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ondo State following the publication of the members of Campaign Council by the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) which consist the names of APC and PDP leaders ahead of the state gubernatorial election slated for October 10, 2020.

Starnews Nigeria authoritatively reported that the list of the members of the Zenith Labour Party campaign council that was recently published by the party, was indeed the coalition of top political strikers of the ruling APC and the opposition PDP drawn from across the 18 local governments of Ondo State.

A week ago, we reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had lost many feathers ahead of the October 10, 2020, governorship election in Ondo State as many political gladiators in the party were leaving for the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

Within a week, the PDP in Ondo State has lost many political strikers to the camp of Agboola Ajayi, the candidate of the ZLP and the symbol of the third force in Ondo State.

Starnews Nigeria reported that Banji Okunomo, one of the governorship aspirants of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party on September 7, 2020, dumped the PDP with over 15,000 followers to the ZLP.

Less down 48 hours of Okunomo’s exit, a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Mr Remi Olatubora, resigned his membership from the opposition PDP and joined the ruling APC in the state.

Within few days, another PDP Stalwart from Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, Engr. Niyi Ogunwa Oboli (FCA), resigned his membership of the PDP to join the ZLP.

Oboli, a former Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Government on Infrastructure and former Managing Director of Okitipupa Oil Palm PLC joined the ZLP with all his followers in grand style at Ode-Aye, his country home in Ondo State.

A day after Oboli’s exit, another political striker, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele, former speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, also dumped the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and
joined the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) in Okitipupa, Ondo State.

The former speaker said she joined the ZLP for the interest of Ondo South Senatorial District which has suffered so many setbacks in the areas of developmental achievements.

Starnews Nigeria can report that there were many chieftains of the ruling APC and the opposition PDP which had joined the ZLP ahead of the election without media attention.
