As part of the Renewed Hope Youth Engagement Tour (RHYE), Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, embarked on a Ramadan Iftar tour across several northern states, engaging with young people, fostering unity, and extending philanthropic support.
The tour, which took him to states like Niger, Kano, and Adamawa, was designed to provide a platform for interaction between the government and Nigerian youths. Through open discussions, Seyi reiterated his father’s commitment to youth empowerment, education, and economic opportunities.
During these engagements, Seyi Tinubu highlighted key policies initiated by President Tinubu to support young Nigerians, particularly the student loan scheme, which aims to improve access to higher education.
“This is the only President that conceived a student loan program, the only President that created a platform for young people to thrive, the only President who is building an economy that benefits everybody,” Seyi stated while addressing youths in Yola, Adamawa State.
He emphasized that his father’s leadership was focused on national prosperity rather than personal enrichment, assuring young Nigerians that their voices and concerns were being heard at the highest levels.
Beyond the Iftar gatherings, Seyi Tinubu also engaged in philanthropic activities, particularly in healthcare support. In Yola, Adamawa State, he visited the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital, where he settled medical bills for some patients and toured hospital wards, bringing relief to families struggling with medical expenses.
His visits aimed to bridge the gap between leadership and the people, ensuring that government initiatives translate into real, tangible benefits for citizens.
While many welcomed the RHYE Iftar tour as a positive step toward youth inclusion and national unity, it also sparked debates in some quarters. In Minna, Niger State, for example, Seyi Tinubu’s visit on March 5, 2025, drew criticism from individuals who viewed the distribution of food packages as politically motivated.
The RHYE Iftar tour is not tied to any political campaign, nor is it an attempt to seek electoral support. Instead, it is an initiative to promote youth engagement, foster unity, and support communities during Ramadan, a period known for charity and togetherness. Seyi Tinubu’s philanthropic efforts, including hospital visits and bill settlements, further underscore the genuine nature of the initiative, proving that the tour is about impact, not politics.
Despite differing opinions, Seyi Tinubu’s Iftar tour has sparked important conversations about youth engagement, government policies, and leadership accountability. By personally interacting with young Nigerians and supporting local communities, the initiative has demonstrated a hands-on approach to governance one that prioritizes dialogue, unity, and social impact.
