Police thwart kidnapping attempt in Kogi, gunmen escape

Security operatives in Kogi State successfully prevented a kidnapping attempt along Ayere Road, forcing the assailants to abandon their plan and flee.

The incident occurred on March 14, 2025, around 5:55 p.m. when unidentified gunmen set up a roadblock to intercept travelers.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Unit Commander stationed at Sharper Corner Pindown Point quickly mobilized his team to the scene.

The swift response of the police disrupted the attack, prompting the criminals to retreat into the nearby bushes.

However, two passengers sustained gunshot injuries and were promptly taken to a hospital for medical care.

To track down the fleeing suspects, additional security personnel from the 70 PMF Squadron have been deployed, while patrols along the highway have been intensified to prevent future incidents.
