BREAKING: IG Deploys Team to Rescue Ojajuni, Kidnapped Afenifere Youth Leader

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the immediate deployment of the Intelligence Response Team to ensure the safe rescue of Afenifere Youth Leader, Prince Eniola Ojajuni, who was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while traveling to Abuja.

Egbetokun directed the team to prioritize Ojajuni’s safe return.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, assured citizens of the police’s commitment to securing Ojajuni’s release by deploying all necessary resources and expertise.

“The IGP commends the bravery and swift action of these gallant officers who have demonstrated their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of citizens,” Adejobi stated. “In the same vein, the IGP has ordered the immediate deployment of the FID Intelligence Response Team to prioritize the safe rescue of Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the Afenifere Youth Leader, who was kidnapped on February 17, 2025, while en route to Abuja.”

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is fully committed to the safe return of Prince Ojajuni and is mobilizing all necessary resources and expertise to achieve this objective.

Adejobi urged Nigerians to refrain from sharing unverified information about the incident on social media. “The police urge members of the public to exercise caution and avoid engaging in speculation or sharing unverified information regarding the ongoing rescue efforts,” he said. “Such activities can inadvertently jeopardize the operation and potentially endanger the victim’s safety.”

“The Nigeria Police Force will continue to actively pursue and dismantle all criminal elements operating within our communities, with the ultimate goal of establishing peace and safety,” he added.

Highlighting the police’s successes in February, Adejobi reported that operatives in Taraba State raided a suspected criminal hideout at Wamunchi dry-season rice farms on February 26, 2025, leading to the arrest of 20 suspects. The operation resulted in the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, a motorcycle, three Dane guns, and a bow and arrow.

In Oyo State, Adejobi noted that a swift response by tactical teams and local security outfits led to the rescue of three kidnap victims abducted from the palace of Baale Tajudeen Inaolaji on February 24, 2025. This operation also resulted in the arrest of one of the kidnappers.
