Osun Govt to Share Free Condoms, Lubes to Curb HIV

The Osun State government has announced plans to distribute free condoms and lubricants across malls and lounges on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2025, as part of efforts to promote safe sex and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

According to Afripost, In a statement on Thursday, Olusegun Daramola, Executive Secretary of the Osun State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (O-SACA), emphasized that the initiative is aimed at raising awareness and encouraging responsible sexual behavior.

“To promote safer practices, condoms and lubricants will be made available at designated locations, including malls and lounges. We encourage residents to take advantage of this initiative and celebrate love responsibly,” the statement read.

Daramola also urged residents to avoid unprotected sex and emphasized the importance of HIV testing for early detection and prevention.

“It is crucial to refrain from risky behaviors such as unprotected intercourse. We also advise those who haven’t been tested to do so and remain informed about their HIV status,” he stated.

He reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to reducing HIV prevalence in Osun State, urging collective efforts toward achieving the global target of ending AIDS by 2030.
