Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested a Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) officer found in possession of multiple firearms and ammunition.
According to Afripost, the officer, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended on Monday in the Zuma area of Abuja. Sources say he failed to provide a credible explanation for how he acquired the weapons or where he was transporting them, raising suspicions of illegal arms dealings.
His arrest followed intelligence gathered during an investigation into a missing person. Upon searching him, security personnel recovered an assortment of weapons, including four AK-47 magazines, four CZ Scorpion rifle magazines, two CZ Scorpion rifles, 139mm ammunition, and two pistols (Diakon and CZ models).
FCT Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, confirmed the arrest, stating that further investigations are underway.
