Matawalle criticizes Amaechi for alleged provocative remarks on Tinubu’s govt

Dr. Bello Muhammed Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has condemned Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation, for making what he termed reckless and inflammatory comments about the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Afripost, at a recent conference in Abuja, Amaechi allegedly suggested that Nigerian politicians might have to resort to theft, violence, and even murder to retain political power.

In his response, Matawalle called the remarks offensive and dangerously provocative, warning that such statements could mislead the youth and destabilize the nation.

Describing the comments as inciting, Matawalle emphasized that no responsible leader should advocate for violence, especially at a time when the government is focused on fostering national unity and strengthening security.

He further criticized any attempts to distort political narratives to justify chaos and lawlessness.

“Nigeria is a nation governed by law, not a place where power is seized through force,” he declared.

Matawalle also assured that security agencies are alert and ready to take action against anyone attempting to cause unrest.

In a statement issued by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence, the government reiterated its position against any rhetoric aimed at undermining national peace and democracy.

Matawalle reminded Amaechi that political power must be earned through democratic processes, not through coercion or violence.

He reaffirmed President Tinubu’s commitment to national progress and expressed confidence in the administration’s achievements, highlighting the government’s positive outlook for the 2027 elections.

Matawalle concluded by urging Nigerians to disregard the remarks of figures he deemed politically irrelevant and disconnected from the country’s development.

He also warned that the government, with the support of security agencies, would continue to monitor any subversive activities and ensure legal consequences for those attempting to destabilize the country.
