Ex-Lawmaker Blames Atiku for 2023 Election Loss

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing internal conflict, with former lawmaker Tajudeen Yusuf attributing the party’s 2023 presidential election defeat to its candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Speaking about the violent disruption of the party’s Board of Trustees meeting in Abuja on January 29, 2025, Yusuf warned that PDP could repeat past mistakes if the crisis continues.

He said some members are fighting for control and positioning themselves for the 2027 elections, leading to divisions within the party.

He criticized the party’s approach to opposition politics, stating that PDP is struggling because of members who prioritize personal ambitions over the party’s strength.

According to him, the unrest at the BoT meeting reflects leadership failure and the party’s inability to resolve internal disputes.

Yusuf, who represented Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu constituency, urged the PDP to focus on unity and effective leadership to avoid further setbacks.
