President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of board chairpersons for 42 federal agencies, assigning key roles to several prominent figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC National Chairman, has been appointed Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), while the party’s National Secretary, Senator Bashiru Ajibola, will lead the National Sugar Development Council.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, has also been named Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, with Senator Magnus Abe assuming leadership of the National Agency for Great Green Wall.
The appointments include managing directors and directors-general for the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) and the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI).
In a statement released on January 24, 2025, Presidential Spokesperson Bayo Onanuga emphasized the president’s directive for all board leaders to adhere to the non-executive nature of their roles, ensuring they avoid interference in the daily operations of the organizations.
