The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that Éric Sékou Chelle, the newly appointed Head Coach of the Super Eagles, will be officially unveiled on Monday.

According to a statement published on the NFF’s website on Sunday, the event will take place at the Media Conference Room of the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja at 11am.

Chelle’s appointment, approved last Tuesday by the NFF Executive Committee following a recommendation from its Technical and Development Committee, marks the beginning of a significant chapter for the Super Eagles.

The 47-year-old Franco-Malian faces one of football’s most demanding roles, but NFF President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau remains optimistic about Chelle’s potential to elevate the team.

“We appreciate the fact that Nigerians are very passionate about football, which is why there have been different reactions following the appointment of Coach Chelle,” Gusau stated on Sunday. “However, the NFF appeals to Nigerians to come together and support him, as we believe he has the qualities to achieve success with the Super Eagles.”

Gusau also reassured Nigerians of the NFF’s commitment to ensuring Chelle’s success. “The NFF will give him all the support that he needs to succeed in the job,” he added.

Chelle’s immediate task will be leading the Super Eagles B team at the African Nations Championship in East Africa next month. Subsequently, attention will turn to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where Nigeria will face Rwanda away and Zimbabwe at home in March.

Monday’s unveiling ceremony will also see the announcement of Chelle’s coaching staff, whose expertise will play a critical role in navigating the remaining six matches of the World Cup qualifying campaign.
