A 34-year-old man, Monday Aonduna, was arraigned on Friday before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a bakery rolling wheel.
According to NAN, Aonduna, who has no fixed address, faces a one-count charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Inspector Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offense around 11:30 p.m. on December 31, 2024, in the Osekita area of Iworoko-Ekiti.
Adeniyi alleged that Aonduna stole a bakery rolling wheel valued at N300,000, the property of Onitekun Oluwasegun. The prosecutor stated that the offense contravened Section 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Adeniyi requested an adjournment to allow time to review the case file and prepare his witnesses.
Aonduna pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defense counsel, Busuyi Ayorinde, requested that Aonduna be granted bail, assuring the court that he would not flee.
Chief Magistrate Dolamu Babalogbon granted bail to Aonduna in the amount of N100,000 with one surety in like sum. The case was adjourned until February 13 for further proceedings.
