Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of mismanaging Nigeria’s resources and failing to address critical economic and infrastructural challenges.
According to Politics Nigeria, speaking during a live interview on Channels TV, Sowore criticized the government’s handling of funds saved from the removal of fuel subsidies, claiming they have not been used to improve the country’s development. He expressed concern over the worsening state of poverty and infrastructure, describing the current situation as the worst he has witnessed.
“There is total mismanagement of the country’s resources,” Sowore said. “When this administration came into power, they promised that savings from subsidy removal would be used to manage the economy better, foster development, and improve prosperity. None of that has materialized.”
He pointed to the poor state of road infrastructure in Ondo State as evidence, adding that poverty levels across the nation have reached unprecedented heights under Tinubu’s leadership.
“Many Nigerians are worse off today than they were in 2023,” he said.
Sowore’s comments come amidst rising concerns over Nigeria’s estimated annual infrastructure deficit of $100 billion to $150 billion, which continues to stall progress in key sectors such as healthcare, education, and transportation, further impacting economic growth and development.
