By Our Correspondent

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced Éric Sékou Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles.

The decision was finalized during an NFF Executive Committee meeting on January 7, 2025.

Chelle, a former Mali national team coach, steps into the role immediately with a critical task ahead: leading Nigeria to secure qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Channels TV reports.

The next phase of qualifying matches is scheduled for March.

With experience coaching clubs like GS Consolat, FC Martigues, Boulogne, and MC Oran, Chelle also represented Mali as a player, earning five caps.

His tenure with the Malian national team ended in June 2024, paving the way for this new chapter in his career with the Super Eagles.
