The Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, has directed a comprehensive investigation into an alleged assassination attempt on Senator Usman Lawal, representing Kaduna Central under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

According to NAN, the directive was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan.

Hassan stated, “The alleged assassination attempt on Senator Usman Lawal is unknown to the police.

The attention of the command was drawn to a publication on the Facebook handle of Senator Lawal Usman, where he claimed to have escaped an assassination attempt by some thugs in an unidentified location within Kaduna North on Wednesday. However, no formal complaint has been lodged by the distinguished senator, nor has the time of the incident been specified. Efforts to contact him directly have so far been unsuccessful.”

Despite the lack of a formal report, the Commissioner of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the alleged incident.

“The Kaduna State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of all residents in the state,” Hassan added.
