Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has raised concerns over the omission of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) from the 2025 budget.
The ex Anambra governor in a tweet on January 1 said this decision could hinder progress in a region grappling with widespread insecurity and displacement.
Obi noted that while ₦2.493 trillion was allocated to other regional development commissions, the North Central was left out, despite facing ongoing challenges like terror attacks and banditry in states such as Plateau, Benue, and Niger.
These issues have caused significant loss of lives and displaced many into camps.
He stressed the importance of prioritizing the region, known for its agricultural contributions, to ensure national stability and growth.
Obi urged the National Assembly to revisit the budget and address this oversight for a more balanced approach to national development.
