Nigeria’s Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has rejected accusations that he is focused on seizing land from individuals in Abuja. Speaking at a Thanksgiving service organized by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ahoada East and West local government areas of Rivers State, the former governor clarified that his role involves addressing issues related to land grabbing in the capital city.

Wike also expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing him as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, saying the position has provided him with a clearer understanding of the country’s governance.

He remarked, “Those who are involved in land grabbing are the ones I am dealing with, and this is why we must thank Mr. President. Without this opportunity, we wouldn’t have known the true state of affairs in the country.”

Responding to claims that he is engaging in controversial actions, Wike stated, “If being controversial means doing what is right, I would prefer it.”

The former governor also dismissed the notion that he is involved in land grabbing, questioning, “How can I grab land I am in charge of? I am in charge of land in Abuja, so how could I go and grab what I already oversee?”
