The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) arrested 30,313 suspects for various crimes and rescued 1,581 victims of kidnapping in 2024, according to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun.
During a strategic meeting with senior officers at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, the IGP highlighted the year’s successes, which also included the recovery of 1,984 firearms and 23,250 rounds of ammunition.
A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, summarized the IGP’s address, praising officers for their dedication in reducing crime and improving community relations.
“In 2024, we recorded significant achievements, including thousands of arrests, the recovery of illegal weapons, and the safe rescue of many kidnap victims,” the statement said.
Looking ahead, Egbetokun outlined plans to adopt modern technologies and innovative strategies for combating crime in 2025. He urged senior officers to leverage these tools to enhance crime prevention and investigations.
As the festive season approaches, the IGP assured Nigerians of the police’s readiness to maintain public safety and order. He reaffirmed the NPF’s commitment to accountability, fostering public trust, and creating a secure environment for all citizens.
