Ondo Electoral Commission Unveils Candidates for January LG Polls

The Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC) has released a list of candidates for the upcoming local government elections set for January 18, 2025.

The names of chairmanship candidates have been displayed at the commission’s headquarters, while those running for councillor positions have been posted at local government offices across the state.

ODIEC Chairman, Joseph Aremo, announced the release during a meeting with electoral officers from all 18 local government areas.

He also mentioned that verification for chairmanship and vice-chairmanship candidates will be held at the commission’s headquarters on December 23.

Verification for councillorship candidates will occur at their respective local government offices.

Political campaigns will begin on December 26, 2024, and continue until January 16, 2025.

The final list of validated candidates will be made public on December 27.

Additionally, Aremo encouraged those interested in joining the commission as ad-hoc staff to apply through local electoral officers or the director of operations at ODIEC headquarters.

Aremo emphasized the commission’s commitment to conducting a transparent and credible election process.
