BREAKING: Stampede at Abuja Church Leaves Several Feared Dead

Tragedy struck on Saturday morning at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja, where at least 10 people are feared dead and several others injured following a stampede.

The incident reportedly occurred during the distribution of palliatives organized by the church to support struggling residents. The event drew a massive crowd, including individuals from Mpape, Gishiri Village, and surrounding communities.

Eyewitnesses recounted that the stampede happened between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. as attendees surged forward to receive the aid.

This unfortunate event comes just days after a similar disaster in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a stampede at a children’s funfair claimed at least 35 lives and left six others critically injured.

Efforts to contact Nkechi Isa, spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department, for further details and confirmation were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.

Details later.
