The Supreme Court has rejected a lawsuit filed by Ambrose Owuru, the Hope Democratic Party’s 2019 presidential candidate, seeking to remove President Bola Tinubu from office.
The court ruled the case as baseless and imposed a N5 million fine on Owuru for wasting judicial time.
Owuru, representing himself as a lawyer, arrived at the court in a wig and gown but was instructed to remove them before presenting his arguments.
Despite his efforts, the judges dismissed his explanations as unsatisfactory, highlighting that similar suits had been repeatedly thrown out in the past.
Tinubu’s legal representative, Bode Olanipekun, criticized Owuru’s numerous failed attempts, calling them poorly structured and lacking purpose.
The court barred Owuru from filing further frivolous cases, emphasizing its commitment to discouraging such misuse of the judicial system.
