The 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army has intensified its fight against crime in Taraba State, apprehending a robbery suspect and rescuing three kidnapped victims during recent operations.
As part of Operation Golden Peace and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), the Brigade achieved significant successes, including the recovery of weapons and ammunition. These efforts were detailed in a statement issued on Sunday by Acting Assistant Public Relations Officer, Captain Oni Olubodunde, who emphasized the Army’s commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state.
One operation occurred along the Takum-Katsina Ala road, where troops disrupted an ongoing robbery near Kasuwa Shenu in Takum Town. Their swift action led to the arrest of Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, who was allegedly found with a locally made pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition.
In a separate mission on December 13, soldiers responded to a distress call from Manzala Village in Yoro Local Government Area regarding bandit activities. This intervention resulted in the successful rescue of three abducted individuals, who have since been reunited with their families.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their bravery and professionalism. He urged the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information on criminal activities and reaffirmed the Army’s dedication to protecting lives and property in Taraba State and beyond.
