The Kaduna State Police Command has reported the arrest of several suspects, including alleged suppliers of security uniforms to bandits, and the killing of a suspected bandit during recent operations.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, detailed the series of arrests and operations carried out between October and December.
On October 8, a surveillance team from the Kasuwan Mata Police Division, acting on credible information, raided a brothel on Nupe Street in Zaria, where they apprehended 35-year-old Adamu Yahaya. A search of his person uncovered a locally fabricated pistol, a live cartridge, and a pair of handcuffs. Yahaya remains in police custody as investigations continue.
On the same day, a patrol team from the Barnawa Division intercepted two suspects, Andrew Emmanuel and Mendwas Peter Bulus, during a stop-and-search operation. The police recovered one service pistol, two Infinix phones, and some dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp. Both suspects confessed to being active armed robbers in the Kaduna area. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover their full criminal network.
On December 9, the police surveillance team from the Dan-Magaji Division, acting on intelligence, arrested three individuals who were behaving suspiciously along the Kano-Kaduna expressway. A search revealed 216 rounds of 9mm ammunition and one round of 7.62x39mm ammunition in their possession. The suspects—Buhari Suleiman, Jamil Yakubu, and Aliyu Abdullahi—were allegedly involved in arms trafficking. Preliminary investigations revealed that Yakubu had recently purchased 50 rounds of ammunition from Suleiman before their interception.
The following day, December 10, the police, supported by the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) and the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), responded to a bandit attack in Tudu Gishere. Upon arrival, they engaged the bandits in a gunfight, neutralizing one while others fled with gunshot wounds into the nearby bushes.
Kaduna State Police Commissioner Ibrahim Abdullahi commended the officers for their swift and successful operations, highlighting their continued commitment to ensuring public safety in the region.
