NCAA Cracks Down on Airlines Over Ticket Refund Delays

By Our Correspondent

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced a firm stance against airlines that fail to process passenger ticket refunds within stipulated timelines.

The authority is set to enforce sanctions on defaulters under the provisions of Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.

According to the NCAA, refunds for tickets purchased with cash must be issued immediately, while electronic payment refunds are to be completed within 14 days.

This policy aims to protect passenger rights and streamline airline operations.

A recent case involving Air Peace, which exceeded the refund timeline, has prompted the regulator to intensify monitoring and enforcement.

The NCAA emphasized that while efforts have been made to foster collaboration between airlines and the authority, stricter measures are now in place to ensure compliance.

Passengers are encouraged to report delays as the NCAA continues to prioritize consumer protection in line with its operational reforms.
