Tinubu Revokes Danfulani’s Appointment as SMDF, PAGMI Secretary

President Bola Tinubu has rescinded Yazid Danfulani’s previous appointment as the Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI).

This decision was revealed in a press release from the State House on Friday, shared by the president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The announcement was titled, “President Tinubu Makes Key Appointments in NUC, NERDC, NEPAD, and Renews Fatima Shinkafi’s Appointment in SMDF.”

The statement clarified that Danfulani’s appointment was annulled due to the “non-existence of a vacancy” within the agency, thus reinstating Fatima Shinkafi as the executive secretary.

Onanuga noted that Shinkafi was originally appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari and has been recognized as “one of the pivotal figures driving reforms in the solid mineral sector.”

“The President has also confirmed the renewal of Fatima Umaru Shinkafi’s position as the executive secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund/Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Initiative (SMDF/PAGMI). She was initially appointed by President Buhari and is regarded as a key player in transforming the solid minerals landscape,” the statement read in part.

Earlier, President Tinubu approved several appointments for Chief Executive Officers across various organizations in the country.

Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, a visiting professor at the National Universities Commission, has been appointed as its Executive Secretary. He is an expert in veterinary reproduction and has previously served as vice chancellor at both the Federal University of Technology in Yola and Sule Lamido University in Jigawa State.

Additionally, President Tinubu appointed Prof. Salisu Shehu as the Executive Secretary of the NERDC, recognizing him as a distinguished academic in educational and human psychology.

The president also announced Jabiru Tsauri’s appointment as the National Coordinator of the New Partnership for Africa Development.
