Governor Otti Slams PDP for Creating Shadow Government in Abia, Threatens Legal Action

By: Bayero Ade

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has condemned the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for establishing a shadow government in the state, describing the move as “treasonous” and promising to take legal action.

Speaking during a meeting with leaders of workers’ unions, Otti criticized the opposition for appointing a shadow speaker and commissioners, calling the action baseless and a demonstration of ignorance about Nigeria’s political system.

“There is no such thing as a shadow government in a presidential democracy. This concept exists only in parliamentary systems,” Otti said. “What they are attempting is essentially a government in exile, which has no legal standing and is treasonable.”

The governor emphasized that the PDP’s actions are a direct violation of the country’s democratic principles. He disclosed that he has instructed the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Ikechukwu Uwanna, to address the situation decisively within the bounds of the law.

Otti reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to preserving the rule of law and warned against any activities that could destabilize the state’s governance structure.
