North-East leaders on Wednesday reflected on the 20 months of Umar Damagum as the Acting National Chairman of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and declared that the party was in the right direction.
The North-East PDP Unity Forum in a statement in Gombe applauded Damagum for making a positive impact on PDP and keeping faith with members of the party.
According to the statement signed by the NEPDPUF Chairman, Alhaji Usman Waziri, the leaders attributed the mounting opposition against Damagum to his uncompromising position on issues bordering on the interest of the party leaders and ordinary members.
‘’We are confidence that Damagum have initiated measures in the right direction. He is leading the party by sound ideas and visible plans’’
Titled: Rejecting Cheap Blackmail, Standing by Facts, Defending the Truth and Upholding Integrity, the highly respected leaders said that such opposition will not distract the acting national chairman from performing his duties.
They urged self-seekers, political jesters and cowards pushed on by backers to stop running berserk all over the place.
They also advised party faithful to be wary of fifth columnists whose evil machination is to destroy the party.
Particularly, the zonal leaders cautioned former National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan and Senator Dino Melaye over comments credited to them.
‘’When a man excels, he is worthy of praise. When he succeeds in attaining lofty goals, his people should rejoice with him but when inordinate ambition misleads him into using disrespectful language, he should be chastised’’
