Davido alleges threat to cancel show over comment on Nigeria economy

Aftermath of his criticism of the Nigerian economy on an American podcast, Afrobeats singer, Davido, has alleged that he has been receiving threats by some people to cancel his show.

Davido had on American podcast, ‘Big Homies House’, warned US citizens against contemplating relocation to Africa, especially Nigeria, saying the country’s economy is in “shambles.”

His remark was met with criticisms, with prominent Nigerians, including Joe Igbokwe, Reno Omokri and others publicly berating him.

I’m his response to the backlash, Davido claimed his critics are angry because entertainers are the “real ambassadors.”

On his X handle, he wrote, “Yall mad cus we the real ambassadors!”

In another post, Davido alleged that there are threats to cancel his show in Lagos this December over his remarks.

He wrote, “Dem say dem go cancel my show cus of my interview … loooool I don’t have to perform in Nigeria.”
