* Ajayi Boroffice, Remi Tinubu, Others battle for the exalted position

Members of the All Progressives Congress from the North-Central geopolitical zone in the House of Representatives have called on the ruling party to zone the position of the speaker in the coming 9th National Assembly to the area.

‎Meanwhile, the Punch reports that the lawmakers stated that they would respect the decision of the APC.

They however urged the party leadership to consider the zone for the sake of fairness.

The lawmakers addressed journalists after the plenary on Tuesday.
Starnews learnt that senators-elect from the Southwest zone of the ruling APC are nursing the ambition and had started soliciting supports from the leadership of the party to have the deputy senate president-seat zoned to the area.
Investigation conducted by Starnews revealed that some ranking senators from the Southwest like Senator Oluremi  Tinubu, Senator Ajayi Boroffice From Ondo North, Olubunmi Ajetunmbi from Ekiti State, Folarin Teslim from Oyo State, Olamilekan Solomon Adeola, Opeyemi Bamidele of Ekiti State, who are no strangers to legislative business, are all vying for the seat of Deputy Senate President in the yet-to-be constituted Ninth Senate that will take off in the month of June this year.
Sources from Aso rock hinted starnews that senator Boroffice from Ondo North is the preferred candidate by presidency in case the seat is zoned to Southwest.
The Ondo senator is said to have enjoyed the support of the presidency and some Northern cabals in the senate more than Senator Oluremi, Tinubu’s wife.
The PDP caucus led by senator Dino Melaye is also said to be working against the ambition of senator Oluremi Tinubu.
Ahead of the June inauguration of the 9th senate, the intrigues and political mathematics have begun already.
Only time will tell..
