60 Million Yorubas Ready to Leave Nigeria – Akintoye

Professor Banji Akintoye, leader of the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement, has declared that 60 million Yoruba people, both in Nigeria and abroad, are ready to leave Nigeria to form an independent Yoruba nation.

Akintoye emphasized that the movement is determined to establish a separate country for the Yoruba people, with no plans to retreat from their cause.

Speaking on Monday, Akintoye reiterated that the Yoruba are resolute in their desire for sovereignty, stating that while Nigeria may remain for others, the Yoruba will build their own nation.

The movement had earlier sent a letter to the United Kingdom government, seeking support for their mission.

Akintoye confirmed that the UK government has acknowledged the letter and is currently reviewing the request.

Additionally, the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement has also reached out to the Nigerian government, asking for a peaceful breakaway, Punch reports.

Akintoye noted that the Nigerian authorities are paying attention to their demand, and the movement is committed to pursuing its goals peacefully, in line with international law.
