$3.5M fraud: EFCC extradites suspect to

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it had successfully extradited a fraud suspect, Fatade Olamilekan, to the United States over an alleged $3.5 million fraud.

According to a statement on the commission’s Facebook page, the suspect, who had been on the wanted list of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was extradited on Thursday, July 14, 2022, for allegedly stealing equipment worth $3.5 million from various cities across the US.

The statement, titled, “$3.5M Fraud: EFCC Extradites FBI Wanted Internet Fraud Suspect to US,” read, “A wire fraud suspect, Fatade Olamilekan, on the wanted list of the FBI, was on Thursday, July 14, 2022, extradited to the US for allegedly stealing over $3.5 million worth of equipment in various cities across the US.His extradition was coordinated by the EFCC following a notice from the FBI, New York, through the US Legal Attache for his role in impersonating various cities, state and academic institutions across the United States.

“Fatade was indicted by a grand jury in the southern district of New York for offences of wire fraud, interstate transportation of stolen property and identity theft.”
