25-year-old man lands in court for stealing she-goat, motorcycle from police barracks

Chukwudi Ugwu, 25, was arraigned on Monday at the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan, accused of stealing a she-goat and a motorcycle from a police barracks.

Ugwu, whose address was not provided, faced charges of conspiracy and theft, to which he pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor DSP Adewale Amos informed the court that Ugwu allegedly committed the offenses on April 3 at the Iyaganku police barracks in Ibadan.

Amos claimed that Ugwu and unidentified accomplices conspired to steal a she-goat valued at N250,000, owned by Olawole Oke. Additionally, on the same date and location, Ugwu allegedly stole a Bajaj motorcycle worth N250,000, belonging to David Adepoju.

The charges, according to Amos, violate sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Magistrate Maruff Mudashiru granted Ugwu bail of N200,000 with two reliable sureties in the same amount.

He adjourned the case until July 11 for a hearing.
