The police in Okitipupa, Ondo State, have arrested a-25-year-old Adeyemi Samuel, for allegedly robbing a provision store at gunpoint in Okitpupa town with other two members of his gang currently at large, Starnews NG has learnt.
Starnews reports that the three-men armed robbery gang on Saturday night, allegedly robbed a provision store of one Mrs Bose at gunpoint, at the junction of Kuye street, in Okitipupa town, under Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State, around 10 P.M in the night.
According to Ejulenen 93.7 FM, the robbers stormed the provision shop and looted an undisclosed amount of money; while they inflicted varying degree of injury on the owner of the shop before indulging in sporadic shooting to escape through Akinloye Estate road, off Erinje road, Okitipupa, before they were intercepted by an unknown man who pursued them with his car and knocked them down at the junction of Ogungbo street – a brave act that led to the arrest of one of the robbers by the Police while others fled to the bush.
CSP Alabi Abiodun, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Okitipupa Divisional Police Station, told Starnews NG correspondent on phone that his gallant men arrested the suspect following a tip-off to police by a member of the public.
The DPO however said the case would be transferred to the Police headquarters in Akure, Ondo State capital.
As at the time of filing this report, the owner of the shop is still receiving treatment at a private hospital in Okitipupa.
